Ask for permission before sharing a guide, link, or resource so your comment stays helpful, opt-in, and aligned with subreddit expectations.
Permission-based comment template
When you have a highly relevant, comprehensive resource (like a guide or template) that answers the user's question.
The opt-in way to share resources
Dropping unprompted links is the fastest way to get ignored, reported, or banned on Reddit. The permission-based approach flips that dynamic. You share the core value in-thread, ask whether people want the longer version, and only send the resource after someone signals interest. That makes the comment useful even without the click.

Use the template page as the entry point, then move into subreddit discovery, timing, and safer execution paths.
Customization
Give a one-sentence summary of what the framework or resource actually helps the reader do.
Always offer to type out the summary directly in the comment, making the link optional.
If people ask for the summary only, deliver the summary only. Do not force the link after they already told you what they want.
How to use
Find a question that your existing content or tool answers perfectly.
State that you have a resource and offer to summarize the key points.
Only post the link if the original poster or others explicitly ask for it.

Better
This is a tricky problem. We developed a 3-step checklist to handle it internally. Happy to write out the steps here if it's helpful, or I can link to the full doc.
The better version gives the user control and doesn't force them off-platform immediately.
Mistakes
If they say 'yes, summarize it here', do that. Don't just drop the link and run.
Don't withhold all value until they click. Give them a taste of the solution upfront.
